I'm back. My son is almost 2 now, and he's ready to start watching ball. So that means Bleumafia is back. 

I've got my thoughts coming out of last year's firing of Father McDermott, the hiring of the young ceaser-Joe Ice Cream Brady. 

I have my thoughts on my hopes for a defensive cultural change in an identityless defensive NEW locker room (& colosseum) 

I give my opinion on if the right things have been done SO FAR by BBBeane (what are yours?)

Well, well, well, if it ain't your old pal, Jeremy Mountain, with another episode of Blue Mafia. We're back. We're entering the 2026 season. We are shooting here live in a 10 more home studio. It's a new year. It's a new stud. We're back up in this dude with one little dude. We've got one little new son in the house. It's a little audio-only episode. We'll have some videos for you throughout the year. But right now, all we're gonna do is a little audio, break down some of the new culture, some the coaching changes, and just the things that I'm excited about heading into the new year. So let's get right into it. So one of the biggest things that I was concerned about, maybe am concerned, maybe will be concerned with all year. I don't know. I guess one huge thing I'm looking at, obviously, with the new young head coach Joe Brady taking over the team. The immediate aftermath of last season, everything happens so quickly. Um, I do believe that you do need to keep Brandon Bean around for continuity purposes, and I do believe that Sean McDermott was probably around for maybe a year or two too long. But with a new head coach being so young, younger than some of these NFL players, um, he comes in with high expectations, high compliments, uh people like Ed Orgeron, people like Sean Payton, even people like Coach Carmichael, new offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, longtime offensive coordinator for Sean Payton, who, as you may or may not remote remember in a blur, removed the Buffalo Bills last season from the NFL Super Bowl race. Pete Carmichael was one of the first things that made me feel a little bit better about a young head coach. And that's because one, he coached with Sean Payton, and Sean Payton was a young head coach who called plays. Something that we know Joe Brady wants to do. So I think you do need a little bit of old blood. I think you do need a dad in the room, I think you do need uh some of these uncles in the room to help the young head coach develop, because he is still young and he does need to develop just like the rest of these players do. Um obviously fans beyond Gen Z remember Coach John Fox, longtime NFL face of multiple franchises, Denver, Carolina. I think he adds maturity value to the mix, and obviously we're gonna be really excited to see how the defensive culture changes with these Buffalo Bills. Sean McDermott always had a defense that would rank statistically. Everyone spoke highly of him and his schemes, and he did do a good job over multiple years, and he did evolve. Coach Bobby Babbage last year I thought did okay, but change was necessary, and I personally am very excited to see how the culture changes with a former NFL player, former NFL safety, former Buffalo Bill, Jim Leonard running a defense. I'm just hoping that he brings a certain psychosis to the defense. I'm s I'm hoping for a certain physicality that you know we care about here at Blue Mafia. But I'm I'm I'm looking forward to some of these new players bringing a certain different edge to an identity-less defense. This defense does not have an identity yet, but it has so many uh cultural uh structural pieces in place already, but adding new pieces like CJ Gardner Johnson, someone who will raise the level of intensity even every day in practice. I mean, I don't I'm not out on the field, I'm not with the team personally, but if the guy is as competitive as they say he is, and he takes it personally that Josh Allen is even winning something like a trash talk competition against him, then you you gotta expect that he's raising some competition in practice. But Bradley Chubb, another player that we expect high things from, but this is an identity-less defense, we don't know what to expect. One thing you like to see is him working out with a young kid. Uh, saw a tweet about that. But one player that I was doing a little bit of digging on this quick, quick prep this morning for this show, which I now shoot later in the evening, the end of the night. Gino Stone, surprise signing. Gino Stone, Iowa Hawkeye, Cincinnati Bengal last season. Just a physical guy, physical, physical, physical, physical. Cole Bishop likes to play physical, but he gets hurt a lot. So we need depth, we need some fresh blood on this defense, and I like some of these things. Also, shout out Germany. Don't know why we have so many listeners in Germany, but shout out Germany. But I want to see you guys flying around on this defense. It's the first season in an inaugural stadium. This defense has to come out bloodthirsty. Has to come out like bloodthirsty, three-headed dog. Because you can't come out identity-less and flop in a new stadium. You have to create an identity in this new stadium. Josh Allen's been creating the identity. He built this Coliseum. So I'm still trusting the process, even though Sean McDermott is gone. I think someone like Brandon Bean is someone who has helped Josh Allen and Terry Pagula continue this vision despite all of these tragedies and losses, and even things like Kim Pagula and all of these business deals and these identities. If you if you cut bait with Brandon Bean, what's left? I think it was the right decision. I think it was the right decision to keep Joe Brady. I think there's enough proof in some of these people that have showed up to the party that still see the writing on the wall. I mean, it's not only financial investment, there is a winning culture here, and as long as 17 is here, you gotta think that we have a shot. Lastly, DJ Moore. I was never a huge DJ Moore guy, but I've been watching, I watched last year. One thing I'll say that I really do like, the bottom line is the guy plays football. He shows up, he plays, he doesn't seem to take plays off, he competes, and ultimately those are the types of guys that the general Josh Allen, you know, likes to have on his team. Will he be the guy? Oh god, I saw one of the most disgusting videos, or at least memes I've seen in a long time. It really did hit home. It was like three pictures. One was the Stephon Diggs drop through the arms, one was the Dawson Knox fall drop, and one was the Brandon Cooks dropception. Oh will DJ Moore be the one? I saw that. Shout out whoever did that, but that was good. I don't know. Will he or won't he? Who knows?
